My zeal for fitness began in middle school when my parents bought me a pull-up bar for my door. Since that day the process of testing my strength and improving upon it was like a drug for me. This interest I have carried with me all the way through high school in various weightlifting programs, onto college in the US Naval Academy, life in the Marine Corps, and now in civilian life as a personal trainer in Texas. This interest has motivated me to start my LLC, “Nerve and Muscle Fitness.”

10 years ago I realized I could put on muscle mass with nothing but bodyweight exercise aka progressive calisthenics. 8 years ago I realized I could improve my strength, speed, and conditioning without moving a muscle. 1 year ago I realized I was barely scratching the surface. The human body is amazing and there is a long history of folks who have attained great strength and muscular development with none of the gadgets and pills we have today. This is what I focus on and teach others about. So whether you are young or old, male or female, there's a way to progressively move your body and contract your muscles to lose weight, enhance strength, alleviate joint pain, improve speed, gain muscle, and lastly... cultivate energy(ATP/Mitochondria/That fight in you).

Hey, I’m Jonathan.

Philosophy

- Work smarter, not harder. The balance between work and life can be difficult to manage. Therefore, we must attack our training in a way that will produce the most results in the shortest amount of time.

- Finding ways to improve our flexibility and maintain momentum as situations change around us while still finding joy in our training.

- Utilize exercise to feel more energetic throughout the day as well as the rest of your life.

- Discovering ways in which these exercises help us to be better people with the discipline and strength to aid those around us.

- Question everything. What are my starting assumptions? Is there a signal within all this noise? Is the dude writing this to be trusted?

Bottom line:

To train effectively both the muscular and nervous system to build an energy-efficient machine that is convenient and can be improved upon whether staying at home or during travels.
