Raw Milk For The Win

There was a period in my life not too long ago when I started realizing that certain things in our cultural worldview had no substance or truth to them. At best these false ideas/structures existed through sustained ignorance at worst…

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:12

During this time I stumbled on raw milk. My first time drinking raw milk and I’m in my 30s. The taste was simply amazing.

I apologize I forgot where I got this meme from. Otherwise, I would link it.

“They knew that if strong food was eaten the body could not digest it and thus would bring about pain, sickness and death, whereas the body draws nourishment and thus grows and is healthy from food it is able to digest.” (p 72, Hippocratic Writings)

I stumbled upon this by going down the rabbit hole of nutrition science and human history. What we eat or ingest can guide us toward better health or sickness. The are several studies on the benefits of raw milk for children. Some of it is just questionnaires while some of it is observations that took place over a few years.

Before typing anything in google. It is important to realize that today’s science and nutrition operate from an

This worldview from the jump will influence how one will run a study as well as who will be funding it…

Raw Milk Consumption Study 2015

“This review critically evaluates some of the popularly suggested benefits of raw milk. Claims related to improved nutrition, prevention of lactose intolerance, or provision of “good” bacteria from the consumption of raw milk have no scientific basis and are myths. There are some epidemiological data that indicate that children growing up in a farming environment are associated with a decreased risk of allergy and asthma; a variety of environmental factors may be involved and there is no direct evidence that raw milk consumption is involved in any “protective” effect.

…causing the study to match what was already held by those in charge.

There are good studies out there but for me, it’s what’s worked in human history, and how my body and others respond to it aka anecdotes. These anecdotes from others both on blogs and in youtube comment sections are numerous.

Fine alright!!!! Here are a few below.

Childhood Asthma and Allergies

“Reported raw milk consumption was inversely associated to asthma (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 0.59; 95% CI, 0.46-0.74), atopy (aOR, 0.74; 95% CI, 0.61-0.90), and hay fever (aOR, 0.51; 95% CI, 0.37-0.69) independent of other farm exposures. Boiled farm milk did not show a protective effect.”

Eczema

“Unpasteurized milk consumption was the exposure mediating the protective effect on skin prick test positivity. The effect was independent of farming status and present with consumption of infrequent amounts of unpasteurized milk.”

Respiratory Infections/ Fevers

“Early life consumption of raw cow's milk reduced the risk of manifest respiratory infections and fever by about 30%. If the health hazards of raw milk could be overcome, the public health impact of minimally processed but pathogen-free milk might be enormous, given the high prevalence of respiratory infections in the first year of life and the associated direct and indirect costs.”

Adult Pulmonary Function

“Literature suggests that early exposure to the farming environment protects against atopy and asthma; few studies have examined pulmonary function. We evaluated associations between early-life farming exposures and pulmonary function in 3,061 adults (mean age=63) from a US farming population using linear regression. Childhood raw milk consumption was associated with higher forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV1) (β=49.5ml; 95%CI=2.8,96.1ml; p=0.04) and forced vital capacity (FVC) (β=66.2ml, 95%CI=13.2–119.1ml, p=0.01). We did not find appreciable associations with other early-life farming exposures. We report a novel association between raw milk consumption and higher pulmonary function that lasts into older adulthood.”

Farm And Urban Life Improvement

“The effect particularly on asthma was observed not only in children raised on farms (OR, 0.62; 95% CI, 0.58-0.82) but also in children living in rural areas but not on a farm (OR, 0.60; 95% CI, 0.48-0.74). This demonstrates that the effect of farm milk consumption is independent of other farm exposures and that children not living on a farm can theoretically profit from this effect.”

The counter-research study from 2015 stated that some of this is based on association which is true. But based on my own experience and that of others, raw milk is could be a superfood. It won’t shield you from everything though it will help. “Science” will dismiss health associations when it comes to animal products but will give the green light to plant-based foods despite what many people, including myself, experience.

But give it to, modern “Science” to come along and gaslight you into doubting your own senses.

Its easier to find and pay for things that will damage your terrain (aka the inner workings of your body) like processed carbs, seed oils, drugs on the street, than it is to find a raw milk farm in some places. My intent is not to get you to go out and buy raw milk but to show how some narratives placed in front of us run contrary to the evidence.

Thank you for making it to the end

Until next time…
